Granite Breaker is a dwarf-forged, castle-shattering cannon.
Initial work …

I wanted to make the bronze oxidised like the images of the ‘Tsar Cannon’ I googled (you can too!) and I mean heavily oxidised, like a very ancient cannon. I tested a technique (enamels) on a second-hand horse’s arse …

It came out odd, but I thought I would try it anyway. What resulted I was on the bad-side of ok. I began to wonder why I had made all that effort to leave black lines on the bronze layer, only to have them all completely disappear under the wash.

It definitely looked oxidised, but I was not at all convinced it was a better look than the ‘clean’ bronze. The more I worked on completing it, the more I doubted.

Then I took a forum member’s advice and brushed some bronze on some parts, to make for a contrast. Now I was happier.

It then dawned on me that the dwarfs would struggle to load such a behemoth. So I began working on steps and a crane. Not works of art, but practical.

The gunner on the steps has a pike-length linstock to reach the touch-hole.
