Condottiere

Now that the Compagnia del Sole free company has made an appearance in the Tilea campaign (Part 5, ‘What to do with Caution on a Still Day’) here is a post about painting some of the figures. The halberdiers and mounted men at arms are Perry Miniatures plastics, the foot men at arms (used as […]

This is the kitbashed greenskin baggage wagon as featured in the Tilea Campaign Part 3 story: Interlude, The Greenskin Corsairs. I didn’t take WIP pictures, but here at least you can see it at different angles. The greenskins are old plastics. The wagon a Tomb Kings chariot (presumably looted after a battle, or found abandoned, […]

Pikes and Boars

As seen in the Tilea campaign: Tilean militia pikemen and some orc boar riders. The pikemen were part of the Viadazan (peasant) Crusading army in part 3. The orcs part of War Boss Khurnag’s Waagh in part 4. Neither project involved conversion, just painting in my usual ‘cell shaded’ style, and in my usual medium […]

Converted Horsemen

Here is a little post concerning some of the ‘ancient’ (early 1980s) horse figures seen in the Arrabiatti brotherhood, who fought in two of the Tilea campaign’s early battles. They are old ‘Warrior Miniatures’ Normans, but have undergone some pretty simple milliput conversions. Here you get an idea of what they look like unconverted – […]

Tilea Campaign Part 5

Tilea, Autumn IC 2401 The Viadazan Terror Rapallo, North East of Viadaza As soon as he returned to the camp, Biagino was met by the Lector’s secretary, who told him he had been summoned to an audience with the Lector. He already suspected the reason, for he had been with a small company of militia, […]

Pirate Goblins!

My goblin scallywags began as a unit of 25, carrying stolen pistols. Here they are ranked up, although there are actually only 21 gobbos here, ‘cos (for the first time) I had used unit fillers. They are fun to do, like little dioramas… Here is the command group. I didn’t go for loads of conversion, […]

Tilea Campaign Part 4

Bad Timing, Bad Intelligence and Bad Behaviour. Prologue to the Battle Report, Part 2 Upon the Eastern Coast of Tilea, Autumn 2401 Gurmliss had been frogmarched through the camp by two hulking orcs wielding viciously sharp choppas, both in the blue and grey cloth of Khurnag’s main battle regiments – one in stripes, the other […]

Carroccio (Tilean War Altar)

My Carroccio kit-bash! I wanted a carroccio that had everything the ‘Treachery and Greed’ campaign Mercenary Company army list suggested (i.e.) Battle Standard, minimum of 6 crew, religious trappings and the sort of firepower that might allow equivalent of 6 handgun shots per turn. I also wanted some height so that it had a good […]

Crossbow Orcs

The Spring 2401 story called ‘The Green Corsairs’ features some crossbow-armed orcs. These were relatively simple kit-bash style conversions, replacing the weapons the models had with crossbows. Here they are before painting: I used crossbows from the Empire Handgunner/Xbow box & the Free Company sprue. Just had to cut the human hands off. Here’s the […]

Scratchbuilt Pump Wagons

Scratch-built snotling pump wagons (‘pumpidoodies’) As seen in the autumn 2401 ‘The Little Waagh!’ battle report’ First I stuck together several bits of plastic strip, black milliput (stubborn finger dye!), balsa wood, lollipop sticks, Ogre weapons, orc spear tips etc … Undercoated and with the big wheels in place, it started to look like something […]
